The Sentiment in German Companies Has Deteriorated Extraordinarily – in Manufacturing, the Index Has Fallen to Its Lowest Level Since August 2009

There has never been a stronger decline in reunified Germany.


In the service sector, the business climate indicator has reached low-levels never previously witnessed since records began in 2005.

In trade, the business climate indicator has slumped.

Expectations plummeted to their lowest level since the German reunification.

The companies themselves also assessed the current situation as notably bad. Wholesale and retail are equally badly hit. The positive exceptions are food and drug stores. In the construction sector, the index fell comparatively moderately.


The construction companies are still very pleased with their current situation. The outlook, however, has deteriorated significantly.
